Behavior doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

If basic needs aren’t being met, dogs and cats are more likely to exhibit unwanted behaviors. We all know this to be true with respect to physical exercise: if a young active animal is cooped up, we might expect them to get the “zoomies” at an inopportune time. Similarly, if an animal is bored, we’re not surprised if they destroy their bed, etc. But any unmet need can lead to unwanted behaviors.
